Cacao Banana Oatmeal

It took me a really long time to enjoy oatmeal- I always viewed it as being mushy and bland. One day, I felt inspired to make this cacao banana oatmeal after having some banana bread laying around and that is the day I fell in love with oatmeal.

This creates a single serving

what you'll need

oat base:

  • 1/4 cup steel cut oats

  • 1 cup coconut milk (or any milk of your choosing)

  • 1 tsp cacao powder

  • 1/2 tsp maca powder

  • Cinnamon

  • 1/2 banana, sliced

toppings:

  • Cacao nibs

  • 1/2 banana, sliced

  • Maple syrup

  • Banana bread (You can find my recipe here)

Start off by placing your oats and milk in a saucepan. Add the cacao powder, maca powder, and a dash of cinnamon and stir until somewhat combined. Turn your burner on to a medium high heat until mixture comes to a boil, stirring occasionally. Slice up half of a banana and throw it into the sauce pan and turn your burner to low heat. Cover and let simmer.

Once completely thickened, pour contents into a bowl and top with banana slices, banana bread, cacao nibs and maple syrup.
